This monocultivar oil is made from centuries-old Casaliva olive trees. This is a mid- to high-intensity oil from the most northerly growing zone for olive trees, Lake Garda. It has aromas of green almond and artichoke, and flavors of green almond, olive leaves, aromatic herbs and the clear hint of black pepper. The persistency is high, with a high bitterness and pungency.
This EVOO is produced by Maria Paola Gabusi, the organizer and panel leader of the prestigious Leone d’Oro dei Mastri Oleari, a rigorous, international olive oil competition in Lake Garda. She can’t enter her oil into the competition, but you can rest assured that her Casaliva olive oil lives up to her high standards.
Great with creamy cheeses as well as meat, beans, soup… even on pizza. Like all high-quality EVOOs, it is amazing on a simple white rice or spaghetti. You also may want to try it as topping on vanilla ice cream.
This Casaliva EVOO won three leafs from Gambero Rosso, the magazine’s highest award.
